B. Ensure timely delivery so products will be available at project site when
required for installation so not to delay job progress.
C. Store materials in sealed original manufacturer's containers. Store
between
50 and 90 °F in a protected area out of direct sunlight. Keep containers
clean
and undamaged. Adhere to manufacturer's published shelf life
recommendations. Protect materials from freezing.
Part 2 - PRODUCTS
2.01 Acceptable Manufacturers and Materials
System
Overview
The static dissipative coating system COR-COTE C ESD as manufactured by
General
Polymers will consist of primer (COR-BOND 100) and topcoat (COR-COTE
ESD/Conductive Coating).
2.02 Performance Criteria
A. Chemical and Use Condition Resistance: Products composing the system
must be resistant to the chemicals, concentrations, temperatures, exposure
times, and other relevant conditions as submitted by the owner or authorized
owner's rep. In many cases, repair, film-build, and other ancillary products
that will be protected by a corrosion resistant and/or wear resistant layer of
the system may not be required to meet these criteria as long as the overall
system complies.
B. Static
Dissipative/Conductive Properties: Electrical Resistance, surface to ground
rating [_______________] meeting requirements of [ESD S.7.1. - 1994] [ NFPA-99]
[DOD Spec]
General
Polymers ESD/Conductive Epoxy Flooring Systems can be formulated to meet
requirements in conductive or dissipative range. General Polymers can be
formulated from 2.5 x 10
4
to 1 x 10
9
ohms. Static Conductive range is typically 2.5 x 10
4
to 1 x 10
6
ohms. Static dissipative range is typically 1 x 10
6
to 1 x 10
9
ohms.
Health
care facilities typically use conductive flooring per NFPA - 99
recommendations. Explosion and Fire Prevention Areas use conductive flooring
per NFPA and DOD specs. Electronics facilities use either but the trend is
toward conductive.
Although
NFPA and DOD specs can be used to specify the system herein described, it is
recommended that the ESD S.7.1-1994 standard be used. The ESD standard is a
more sensitive test and is therefore better than the NFPA test for determining
performance of conductive flooring. The ESD test is run using 100 volts and
the NFPA test is run using 500 volts which can allow some materials to appear
conductive at this higher voltage but would not perform as conductive flooring
at 100 volts.
General
Polymers ESD flooring can be formulated to meet any of these specifications.
C.
Color: System will be installed using General Polymers Color: __________.
Part 3 - EXECUTION
Surface Preparation
Concrete
A. Adhere to static dissipative system manufacturer's application guidelines
for the specified system.
B. Concrete is required to have a minimum of 28 days cure regardless of
concrete type. Use of any type curing agent or sealer must be made known to
the Contractor and system manufacturer prior to bidding.
C. Contaminated concrete shall be treated to remove contaminants prior to
beginning surface preparation.
D. Compressed air for abrasive blasting must be oil free. Refer to ASTM
D-4285, Standard Test Method for Indicating Oil or Water in Compressed Air.
E. Finish texture shall comply with static dissipative system manufacturer's
recommendation.
I.
Concrete Repair:
1. Horizontal Surfaces
(a) Less than 3/4 inch spalls may be repaired with Permalith STR-D.
(b) Greater than 3/4 inch repairs, sloping to drain, leveling may be done
with
Permalith PC or STR polymer concretes.
Greater
than 1/2 inch repairs may be made with Permalith STR-D or
Permalith CE-V.
3.02 Application
A.
Comply with static dissipative system manufacturer's written installation
recommendations
including surface preparation and detailing of joints, penetrations, and planar
changes in substrate.
B.
Mix separately packaged components in accordance with corrosion
resistant
system manufacturer's written recommendations.
C.
Proceed with system application only after items 1.03 A, B, C, D, and E
have
been satisfied.
D.
Apply materials in accordance with the following material coverage:
1. Static Dissipative Epoxy Coating System
Products Thickness Mils
Primer
COR-BOND 100 6 Mils

3.03. Inspection and Testing
A. The owner or owner's authorized representative may require the following:
1. The services of an independent testing laboratory to test the installed
system.
B. If test results indicate noncompliance with the specification, the
following
corrective action may be required of the Contractor:
1. Remove noncomplying system or components.
2. Replace system or components in (1)
3. Assume the testing expenses.
