General Polymers Acquires Polyurea Technology from Envirochem Technologies


Envirochem is the leading company in the polyurea protective coatings business. Products are marketed under the EnviroLastic® brand name and Envirochem is the only company with a workable NSF approved polyurea coating. This acquisition by General Polymers brings a new dimension in polymer chemistry to the organization and expands our market opportunities. Polyurea is fast! For the most part, polyurea must be applied using plural component spray apparatus. There are a number of existing Envirochem applicators who have a wealth of experience with the products and application techniques. In order to become certified to apply these products a rigorous 40-hour training class is required.

Key markets that will be targeted for this technology include Water and Wastewater, Petrochemical & Chemical Processing, Hazardous Waste Containment, Pipelines, and Electric Utilities. Secondary markets include Parking Decks, Mechanical Equipment Rooms, as well as specialized areas within the Food & Beverage, Pulp & Paper and Pharmaceutical markets.
